The Daily Moth: daily news in ASL
The Daily Moth is a Deaf-run news show hosted by Alex Abenchuchan. The idea grew out of the daily news recaps he gave his students while teaching at a high school for Deaf students, and the video show has run since 2016. It covers big national and world stories alongside Deaf community news, all in ASL, and offers written transcripts and summaries when it can.
New videos go up on The Daily Moth’s YouTube channel several times a week. The full lineup, including interviews and live shows, is in The Daily Moth’s own website and app at members.dailymoth.com, for $3.99 a month or $39.99 a year. Abenchuchan has said he moved to a paid subscription after two sponsors did not continue, so he could keep paying the reporters and editors who work on the show.
National Association of the Deaf: advocacy and policy news
The NAD’s Latest News page is where the NAD posts its statements, legal updates, and leadership news, in English and in ASL where available. In early October 2026, for example, its top story covered the NAD’s return to court to defend ASL interpreters at White House press briefings. It is not a general news site, but it is the first place to look for advocacy news straight from the source.
The Limping Chicken: UK Deaf culture and news
The Limping Chicken calls itself the UK’s Deaf culture, news and arts site and has been publishing since 2012. It runs interviews, reviews, and first-person pieces, and many posts include British Sign Language. It is a good read even if you live outside the UK.
DPAN.tv: ASL access for big moments
DPAN.tv, “The Sign Language Channel,” comes from D-PAN, the Deaf Professional Arts Network, a Deaf-led nonprofit founded in 2006. D-PAN once produced DTV News, a daily news program with signing Deaf anchors. Today its focus is ASL access: it has worked with PBS to stream events like a presidential inauguration and an address to Congress in ASL, and it produces ASL versions of documentaries and other media.
Sign1News: an ASL news pioneer, now posting occasionally
Sign1News launched in Atlanta in 2016, founded by former FOX 5 anchor Karen Graham, as a CNN-affiliated network delivering daily news in ASL with Deaf anchors. Its website’s most recent daily news updates are from August 2023. Since then it has posted occasional features, such as an adoption series in late 2025, and its YouTube channel still shares new videos from time to time. If you are looking for a Sign1News alternative for regular ASL news, The Daily Moth is the closest match today.
DeafDigest: a weekly newsletter, now paused
DeafDigest was a weekly email newsletter of Deaf community news, with a jobs center on its website. Through 2025 and into early 2026, its editions ran as the DeafWire Edition, presented by H3 World TV, a Toronto-based Deaf media group that produces programs in International Sign. The most recent edition listed on its site is from mid-January 2026. Its homepage now carries an H3 World TV announcement about changes in 2026 that affect DeafDigest and points readers to H3’s DeafDots TV program. If it starts publishing again, we will update this guide.
Where DeafMonitor fits
We publish this guide, so here is plainly what DeafMonitor is and is not. DeafMonitor does not produce a daily ASL news show. It is a free hub that gathers Deaf and hard of hearing news from across the web, including several of the outlets above, and sends you to the original publisher to read each story.
- Today’s Top Deaf Stories on the homepage, and the full feed, updated throughout the day, on Stories.
- Daily Briefing: the day’s top Deaf stories in one read. Always free, no paywall.
- Signing Screen: ASL and captioned videos from Deaf creators and outlets, including The Daily Moth, in one feed.
- World News by Country: a map on the homepage showing Deaf news from around the world.
- Deaf sports scores: live and final scores from schools for the Deaf, college, USADB, NSAD, and grassroots tournaments.
- Events: Deaf community events, local, regional, national, and online.
- Free account: sign up free, with an optional Pro plan for extra tools.
Think of DeafMonitor as the front page that points you to the reporting. The reporting itself belongs to The Daily Moth, the NAD, The Limping Chicken, and the other publishers we link to.

Common questions
What are the best Deaf news websites right now?
For daily news in ASL, start with The Daily Moth, a Deaf-run news show that still posts new episodes several times a week. For advocacy and policy news, the National Association of the Deaf posts updates on its Latest News page, in English and in ASL where available. For Deaf culture and news from the UK, The Limping Chicken posts new articles regularly, many with BSL. To see all of this and more in one place, DeafMonitor gathers Deaf news from across the web and links each story back to the outlet that published it.
Where can I get ASL news today?
The Daily Moth posts ASL news videos on YouTube several times a week, and its full lineup is in The Daily Moth website and app ($3.99 a month or $39.99 a year). The NAD posts its news in English and in ASL where available. DPAN.tv has streamed major national events in ASL, such as a presidential inauguration and an address to Congress. DeafMonitor’s Signing Screen collects ASL and captioned videos from Deaf creators and outlets, including The Daily Moth, in one feed.
Is Sign1News still active, and what are the alternatives?
Sign1News, the Atlanta ASL news network that launched in 2016 as a CNN-affiliated service, still posts occasional videos, but its website has not carried a daily news update since August 2023. For regular ASL news, The Daily Moth is the closest alternative. DPAN.tv covers major live events in ASL, and DeafMonitor’s Signing Screen collects ASL news videos from several creators in one place.
Is there a Deaf version of Google News or Apple News?
The closest thing is DeafMonitor. Like Google News, it gathers stories from many publishers: Deaf and hard of hearing news from across the web, with the day’s top stories ranked on the homepage and in the Daily Briefing. Each story links to the original publisher. It also has a World News by Country map, ASL video on Signing Screen, Deaf sports scores, and an events calendar, and it is free to use.
Are there Deaf news aggregators or daily briefings?
Yes. DeafMonitor’s Daily Briefing pulls the day’s top Deaf stories from across the web into one free read, and the full feed is on the Stories page. DeafDigest was a weekly email roundup of Deaf news, but it has not published a new edition since mid-January 2026. The NAD’s Latest News page is a good companion for policy and advocacy updates.
Is DeafDigest still publishing?
Not as far as we can tell. The most recent weekly edition listed on DeafDigest’s website is from mid-January 2026. Its homepage carries an announcement from H3 World TV, the Toronto-based Deaf media group that presented recent editions, about changes in 2026 that affect DeafDigest, and it points readers to H3’s DeafDots TV program. If DeafDigest starts publishing again, we will update this guide.
Where can I follow Deaf sports news and scores?
DeafMonitor’s Deaf sports scoreboard tracks live and final scores from schools for the Deaf (NDIAA), college, USADB, NSAD, and grassroots tournaments. Check it any time for the latest games.
Does DeafMonitor replace The Daily Moth or other Deaf news outlets?
No. DeafMonitor is a place to find Deaf news, not a replacement for the people reporting it. Every story links back to the outlet that published it, and Signing Screen sends you to creators like The Daily Moth. If you want a daily ASL news show, watch The Daily Moth. If you want the whole picture in one place each morning, start with DeafMonitor.
How we put this guide together. We checked each outlet’s own website and channels in October 2026 and describe what we found, not rankings. If something has changed, or we missed an outlet that belongs here, please let us know and we will update the guide.
All of it, in one place each morning.
Keep watching The Daily Moth and reading the outlets you love. Open DeafMonitor when you want the whole picture in one place.
