SUPRA celebrates International Week of Deaf People and International Day of Sign Languages!

21 September to 27 September 2026 is International Week of Deaf People, and Wednesday 23 September 2026 is International Day of Sign Languages!   The International Week of Deaf People has been celebrated since 1958, while the International Day of Sign Languages was introduced in 2018. For both events, 2026 is a particularly important year, as it marks the 75th anniversary of the foundation of the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) and 20 years since the adoption of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). This year's theme for International Week of Deaf People is “Declaring Deaf People’s Human Rights”. Additionally, each day of the week has its own theme, encouraging further awareness and action about the recognition of Deaf rights.
