DeafCareers Launches ‘Pledge to Hire’ Campaign to Promote Employment Opportunities for Deaf Talent
Gurugram: Marking the International Week of Deaf People (September 21–27), DeafCareers.in has launched its ‘Pledge to Hire’ campaign, calling on companies across India to take meaningful steps towards creating more inclusive workplaces by actively considering skilled talent from the Deaf community. Built around the message “Awareness Starts Conversations. Hiring Creates Change,” the campaign seeks to encourage HR leaders, business leaders and organisations to move beyond conversations around diversity and inclusion and create access to meaningful employment and career opportunities for Deaf professionals. DeafCareers.in works to improve employment accessibility for the Deaf community by connecting skilled candidates with employers and supporting them through skill development, interview preparation and workplace-readiness initiatives. Commenting on the initiative, Sahil Chopra, Founder & Director, DeafCareers, said: *“Awareness is important, but awareness alone does not change lives. Employment does. Our pledge is a simple invitation to companies: look beyond the barriers, look at the talent. There are skilled, committed and capable people in the Deaf community who are ready to contribute, grow and build careers. We want more companies to take that first step and give them the opportunity.” The campaign comes during the International Week of Deaf People, observed by the World Federation of the Deaf from September 21–27, 2026. This year’s global theme focuses on declaring the human rights of Deaf people. Through the ‘Pledge to Hire’ initiative, DeafCareers is encouraging companies and HR professionals to take the pledge, share the message within their networks and explore suitable opportunities to hire Deaf talent. The organisation also highlights the potential value of inclusive hiring for employers, including the opportunity to bring diverse skills, perspectives and capabilities into the workplace. Sahil Chopra added, “We don’t want this to be just another awareness week. We want it to become a starting point for conversations between HR teams and Deaf talent. One company hiring one person can create one career. And many companies taking that step can create a much bigger change.” The DeafCareers ‘Pledge to Hire’ is now open to companies, HR leaders and individuals seeking to support greater employment inclusion for the Deaf community.
