David Piehota: Learn American Sign Language begins at Hazleton Art League in Hazleton on Tuesday, September 15, from 7-8:30 p.m. The three-week course meets Tuesdays and Thursdays through September 29 for six classes in the Main Gallery. Participants will explore American Sign Language and practice the basics and dynamics of the native language of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. The course will also introduce participants to Deaf culture and touch on different modes of sign language. Classes offer an engaging environment to practice new skills while learning more about the language and its cultural context. The course is open to teens and adults ages 13 and older. The cost is $85 for members and $110 for nonmembers. Both prices include a $5 material fee. David Piehota: Learn American Sign Language in Hazleton offers six classes for teens and adults interested in building foundational ASL skills.
