FC Zaanstad of the Netherlands won the under-21 Deaf Champions League futsal tournament in Castelnovo Monti, Italy, beating SSS Siena 9-4 in the final at the Pala Guidetti. The week brought 12 teams, 150 Deaf players, 50 coaches and officials and 30 DCL Europe staff to the Reggio Emilia Apennines over 34 matches; Karlsruhe beat GTSV Essen for third and GSS Modena beat Avellino's Wolves for fifth. Organizers said tourist visits generated by the event beat early estimates.
