Ballia (UP), Sep 18 (PTI) A POCSO court here has sentenced a young man to life imprisonment for raping a deaf and mute Dalit girl six years ago in a village in this district, prosecution officials said on Friday. Additional District Judge (POCSO) Pratham Kant on Thursday also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on Satyendra Yadav, Special Public Prosecutor Vimal Kumar Rai said. On the afternoon of August 16, 2020, Yadav entered the house of the girl and raped her, Rai said. Following a complaint lodged by the girl’s father, a case was registered against Yadav under relevant IPC sections, provisions of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
