Medina school staff take a free introductory sign language course to communicate with Deaf people
Dr. Rasha Hamza Al-Sharif led a free two-hour course, 'Introduction to the Basics of Sign Language,' on October 25 at a private school in Medina, Saudi Arabia, as part of a community partnership to spread sign language awareness and improve communication with Deaf and hard of hearing people, extending activities tied to the International Day of Sign Languages. More than 25 school staff and guests learned the sign alphabet, numbers, descriptive vocabulary and etiquette for communicating with Deaf people.
