Learn our story #3: Day of Sign Languages & International Week of Deaf People
The first International Day of the Deaf was celebrated in 1958. Over time, it grew into the International Week of Deaf People (IWDP), uniting deaf communities around the world. In 2017, following strong advocacy by WFD, the United Nations officially proclaimed 23 September as the International Day of Sign Languages. 🌐 🎉 Join us in Rome this September for the WFD 75th Conference, celebrate our shared history and shape the future.
