Indonesia: Deaf community members record a BISINDO sign language video bank to train AI for the 112 emergency call center
The BESTARI-Saintek research team in Tegal, Central Java, recorded volume 2 of a sign language video bank with 40 members of the Dunia Tak Lagi Sunyi community and Gerkatin Tegal. Participants filmed BISINDO videos simulating emergency, medical and disaster reports, which will become a dataset to train an AI system that translates sign language into text for the 112 call center.
