National Fuel Plan explanation in NZSL
Fuel is expensive right now. One reason is conflict in the Middle East, especially near Iran. The Strait of Hormuz is an important waterway where about 20% of the world’s oil passes through. If that area is blocked or unsafe, global fuel prices rise. New Zealand has a National Fuel Plan (2024) to prepare for possible fuel shortages. NZ imports all its fuel, so overseas disruptions affect us quickly. Problems can also come from storms, earthquakes, wars, or damage to pipelines and roads. 🔵 Leve
