Hands That Teach How to Create Opportunities: Deaf Youth Learn and Train at Chiapas Center
At the Municipal Care and Training Center for People with Disabilities (Camdis) in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, Deaf children, teens and adults find a place to learn. Teacher Emmanuel López supports young Deaf students in their studies and teaches open high school classes, while Mirna Escobar teaches Mexican Sign Language (LSM), giving students tools to express ideas and connect with others. Hands-on craft workshops also build practical skills and open paths to work.
