International Day of Sign Languages
Today is International Day of Sign Languages! This year’s theme, “Declaring Deaf People’s Human Rights,” recognizes the importance of sign languages and the human rights of Deaf people. More than 70 million Deaf people around the world belong to signing communities, using more than 300 different sign languages.
At Gallaudet, these principles are part of who we are every day. American Sign Language and Deaf culture are at the heart of how we learn, work, and connect.
