Yekaterinburg Puppet Theatre stages its first adult show with Russian Sign Language interpretation

·

The Yekaterinburg Puppet Theatre presented 'Bobok,' its 20-year-old adaptation of a Dostoevsky story, with Russian Sign Language (RSL) interpretation for the first time, the theatre's first accessible production for adult audiences. The show was part of the grant project 'Everyone Included,' supported by the Miloserdie charitable foundation, to build an accessible theatre environment for Deaf and hard of hearing audiences. RSL interpreter Oksana Butsyk of St. Petersburg conveyed both the lines and the emotional tone of the action. Tickets for Deaf and hard of hearing viewers are free by advance booking, and 'Morozko' and a Baron Munchausen solo show will be interpreted next.
